CHI Garage Door Repair in Myrtle Beach, SC

CHI Overhead Doors is another manufacturer you may see on homes around the Grand Strand. If your door carries that name, we can service it. Call (854) 248-1833 for same-day service.

What We’re Working On

CHI makes the door, meaning the panels, and typically the hardware packaged with it. The opener above your car is a separate product from another company. When a door isn’t working, either could be responsible, and the two systems affect each other. So we check both, along with springs, cables, rollers, tracks, hinges, and seals. See our brands page for the openers we service.

Identify Your Door First

A quick photo of the label on the inside of the door, often on an end stile or the edge of a panel, tells us the model and size. Add a photo of the spring assembly at the top. With both, we can usually work out what we’re dealing with before we arrive, including the spring specifications, which depend on the weight of your specific door. If you can’t find a label, we can typically identify the door on-site.

The Repairs We See Most

Matching Parts and Style

If you need a replacement panel or want to add matching hardware, the details matter: panel design, thickness, color, and insulation all have to line up. Where a match can be obtained, we’ll source it. Where it can’t, we’ll tell you honestly and explain the alternatives. Sun and salt fade a door over the years, and a brand-new panel next to a weathered one may look different even if it’s technically the same color. We’ll set expectations before you decide.

Documentation and Warranty

If your CHI door is fairly new, it’s worth checking whether the manufacturer’s warranty is still in effect before paying for a repair out of pocket. Keep your original paperwork if you have it, and photograph the door’s label. Warranty terms vary by model and by the date of purchase, and they often have conditions about installation and maintenance. We’re happy to look at your situation and tell you what we think is likely covered, though we can’t speak for the manufacturer.

Coastal Corrosion and Maintenance

A CHI door on the coast faces the same challenges as any other: salt air pulls moisture against exposed metal, and steel hardware rusts faster than it would inland. Springs typically last 7-9 years here instead of 10-15, and oceanfront homes see 5-7. The sensors and opener electronics wear early as well. Annual maintenance is the single best defense. See our maintenance page, seasonal checklist, and coastal corrosion guide.

Hurricane Season

If your door isn’t wind-rated and you’re within a few miles of the coast, upgrading is worth a conversation. Check your paperwork and door label for any rating, and don’t assume. See hurricane and wind-rated doors and our hurricane checklist.

Repair or Replace?

For an isolated problem on a door under about 15 years old, repair almost always wins. For a door with widespread rust, multiple failing parts, or unavailable panels, replacement may be smarter. See our repair vs. replace guide. Replacement is also a chance to add insulation, a new style, or wind resistance. See new garage door installation and insulated vs. non-insulated doors.

What to Have Ready When You Call

  • A photo of the label on the inside of the door, if you can find it
  • A photo of the spring assembly at the top of the door
  • A rough age for the door and any paperwork from the original installation
  • A short description of what happened: a sound, a stuck door, storm damage, a dented panel
  • The brand of your opener, if you know it

None of this is required. We’ll work with whatever you have, and we can identify most doors in person. But it saves time and helps us bring the right parts to the first visit.

What It Costs

Same pricing regardless of brand: single torsion spring $200-350, pair $350-500, cable replacement $150-250, roller replacement $100-200, track repair $150-300, opener repair $100-220. New insulated steel doors typically run $1,100-1,800 installed for a single door, and wind-rated doors $2,200-4,500. See our cost guide. You’ll get a written estimate before we start.
